In some major Chinese hospitals, diagnostic departments operate at considerable scale and handle a high volume of examinations. Where appointments are available, patients may be able to complete blood tests, ultrasound, X-rays, CT scans or other examinations shortly after a consultation.
This can be helpful for international visitors who have limited time in China. Nevertheless, not every examination is immediately available. Certain scans may require advance scheduling, fasting, contrast-agent assessment or pre-examination laboratory results. Patients should therefore avoid assuming that all tests can be completed on the same day.
